Truro
Truro is Cornwall’s capital city and centre for administration leisure and Retail.
Truro’s population is approx. 19000, it became a city in 1877. Truro cathedral was completed in 1910. The name truro is said to derive from “tre-uro” i.e. settlement on the river Uro.
Truro had a castle that was built in the 12th century by Richard De Luci, the town grew in the shadow of the castle. The castle has long since disappeared.
The city of truro is surrounded by a number of protected areas and park lands.
Truro`s cathedral took approx. 30 years to build. The Royal Cornwall museum is the oldest and premier museum for Cornwall history – it includes “Arthurs inscribed stone “

Truro Cathedral has a highest spire of 249 ft. raising above the city. It has a green spire and is gothic in appearance
